It’s deeper than that. Deeper than the surface, the grains of sand, the ocean. Deeper than the flesh, the bones. It’s all worthless if you serve no purpose. Deeper than bank accounts and possession amounts. We’re still searching. This game of life, we’re all players, until we dive deep, peeling back the layers. We’ve been dressed up, made up, to forget what we’re really made of… Just love.

Just a spirit.

Just a soul, without limits.

Just wondering where the winds were born, where they traveled from, and where they’re off to next. Just wondering how the oceans stay put, all that water, and only once in a while does she hurricane her tsunamis.

Now’s the time to check your baggage. What are you carrying? Everything can’t go, and in due time – none of it can go.

We’re not here long. This physical human machine our souls are trapped inside of will die out one day. The type of death that can’t be recharged. While we’re here, let’s do the best we can to make it worthwhile. Let’s do the best we can to have an energy so strong, that it creates light. To have a light so bright, that we never lose ourselves. Let’s.

What makes you giggle? What makes your heart smile? What gives you that extra boost of energy? Who keeps you honest? Where is your happy place? What do you care most about? Why do you care? Why don’t you care? What do you love about yourself? What do you dislike? Who do you love? Where are you right now? Where are you going? When do you take the necessary breaks? Who are you? Who created you? Do you love them? Do you love yourself? How are you feeling, right now, today, here, in this moment? When is the last time you listened to your heart. When’s the last time you trusted your intuition? When is the last time you listened closely to the silence? Shhh… take a second. Breathe. Were you meditating? Where do you find solace? If you could be anywhere in the world, doing anything in the world…where? What? Why? With whom? What’s the greatest feeling you can remember? It’s nearly 2019, how have you changed since January? Who left your life, who entered? What do you want? How will you get it?

Today is 11:11, make a wish. Love yourself.

 

I’m Home.

I know where it is. It may have taken me a while to understand it exactly, but ever since I’ve figured it out, there’s a type of freedom I feel that no one can take from me. Home, is wherever I am. I carry everything with me, and that makes me feel at home. On my journey, throughout my travels, the people I meet, the ones I come to love and leave, it’s okay, because I take all that matters to me, with me. I don’t have room to carry things in my luggage that would try to remind me of who I am. That’s what my heart is for… It’s an unlimited space, filled with treasures. My heart is filled with people, memories, dreams, love, hope, and passions, that only I would understand. There are moments when I think I’m homesick, and it’s only because I may have forgotten that what I’m looking for is not always out in the world, but within myself. I’m at home, everyplace I go, because I carry my people with me (y’all know who y’all are). It can all be so simple, and I prefer simple. The key to that, is to be kind and choose love.

It’s been 10 years since I’ve been in Australia, and as soon as I landed, I was home, again.

Customized Happiness

I’m sitting in my temporary apartment in Prague, and I’m meditating on all the things that make me happy. Did I just say that I’m in my apartment, in Prague? Being able to say things like that is amazing! I then channel having thoughts of how people customize experiences, to bring them happiness, emphasizing on the fact that yours and mine may look nothing alike. I find there to be so much beauty in that. No judgements, and no comparisons, just happy in our own ways.

I’ve cried many tears, and if I’ve learned anything from those purifying experiences, it’s that I look and feel so much better when I’m smiling. In addition to that, those silent cries have led me to realizations of the exact things and experiences that would make me want to do the opposite of crying…

Right now, my happiness is not rushing through life working a 9-5 to survive, but developing a plan to start a business that aligns with my passions. It’s recognizing opportunities, and taking risks. It’s understanding and appreciating divine timing. It’s traveling the world, becoming well-rounded, and knowing that home is where my heart is. It’s seeking clarity. It’s being spontaneous, and seeking adventure. It’s finding peace in the moments I choose to spend in solitude. It’s shopping for groceries and spending time in the kitchen, listening to music for my soul while preparing a healthy meal. It’s planning ahead and giving myself enough time to walk most places, for my double dose of exercise and mediation. It’s actually seeing and doing. It’s expressing myself by being creative. It’s keeping things short and sweet. It’s having my greatly desired morning cup of coffee! It’s spending time to think of ways I can help other people. It’s being present, having little to zero doubts and regrets. It’s about less being so much more. It’s taking ownership of where I am in my life, and acknowledging the work I’ve done to get to this place. It’s about customizing my happiness, and knowing that yours and mine do not look alike. What makes you smile, and what makes me smile are so different, and even that makes me happy! It’s about seeing people in pure states of joy, for different reasons. It’s about finding balance.

This smile is bright for many reasons, and when I’m not smiling, it’s because I’m giving my life a wash, shedding all of what has become unnecessary.  I’m smiling because, it’s important to me to remain true to myself, and keeping things simple. I’m directing my energy toward living a life of fulfilling dreams. My travels have plenty to do with each of these blog posts, in my own way. I may not elaborate on my “touristic” experiences within each city, but know that traveling, alone, contributes to the happiness I possess. That, for me, is enough. My intentions are to capture the changes I’m going through, and potentially provoke you to ponder your experiences in life, how they made you feel, how they made you change, and what you find yourself intentionally doing to fulfill your own sense of happiness.

I’m writing this blogpost from my temporary apartment, in Prague. I am where I am, doing what I’m supposed to be doing. The same goes for you.

Next month, I’ll be living in Lisbon, Portugal, and I look forward to that experience adding to the customization of my happiness.

Like a Bird

Every morning, when I wake up, I am reminded that I am magic. I am powerful, over my thoughts, my words and my reality. I’d like to think that my sense of freedom has elevated in the last few weeks. I am soaring to new heights, and this feeling is extremely liberating. I’m not questioning the wind. It’s guiding me, and I know for sure that my wings were made for this!

We all know many who are afraid to leave the nest, afraid to spread their wings, afraid to soar. The view from the nest is just not good enough for me. There are some things I want to see up close and personal. I’ll never forget home, but I’m also not obligated to stay there. My spirit is pulling me to fly and experience life around the world. My spirit is pulling me to become immersed in the possibilities of a new life each day.

From the skylines of Croatia, to Montenegro, to Italy in the last week, I am feeling free, and embracing the dream. The added beauty that comes along with this experience is the pleasure of being surrounded by others with the same intentions, the same ideas, the same outlooks, the same dreams, and the same visions. We are out here in the world, flying together – because it’s possible.

Each day, I further understand Maya Angelou’s eloquence and sentiments. I too, know why the caged bird sings…I’m remembering the moments of feeling stuck, and my subconscious whispers of  songs, wishes, hopes and prayers, and then realizing that the locked cage was an illusion. How many years of life does one lose, as they trick themselves into believing they are supposed to live with limitations? The limits of the home, the job, the family… we are not obligated to these things. These are circumstances placed to help shape us. As we develop from them, it’s wise to know and understand that the circumstances will shift. My circumstances are shifting!

Fear is nothing. The locked cage is an illusion. The wings are too. But, the dreams, the visions, the passions, those are real! When you realize you’re as free as a bird, you walk, run, fly, soar, and float. The perspectives are limitless, the views leave you speechless, and your soul is grateful because it has become even more alive. Let’s be as birds.

Birth.

When anyone or anything is presented to this world, in that very first moment, it becomes a realization that they will serve a great purpose. There’s a gift within that is to be revealed, and shared. We are more in tune with this when we are young,  because often times those are the years in which our innocence has not been stolen. During our youth, our minds have not yet been completely tainted with arbitrary distractions. When we are young, we have the greatest dreams for ourselves. We have so much excitement, and that shows through laughter, love for others, the risks we take, and the simple joys that fill us up. We know that we love to play, sing, act, or even take charge. Then, we become introduced to society, systems, rules, standards, structures, politics, and trends. All of these things poison the human experience. So much, that we become forced to forget the dreams we had as children, and lose ourselves. We end up caught in the cycle of either meeting these social standards or becoming depressed because we can’t. All the while, subconsciously, we don’t want to live up to society’s expectations, because we know it’s just not natural. Our instincts speak through our gut, and we end up stuck in confusion because we know that’s what we’re really supposed to follow. We are to be living in nature, following dreams with a passion, understanding the capabilities of our gifts, and what it really means to share them with the world. The human experience is truly being alive. It’s falling in love with ourselves, and other people. It’s contributing to the earth, and being of service to others. It’s embracing human life and having compassion for one another. It’s exploring the world and becoming connected with the variations of people and cultures. It’s having respect for ourselves, and all life. It’s lending a helping hand, offering a listening ear, having an open heart, sharing ideas, speaking the truth, and being a part of something larger than ourselves. We are not to blend in, and pretend to be naive. It’s about owning our place, standing out, and making a humble contribution. Sometimes, it takes for people to die or be born, for us to realize all of this. Sometimes, it takes for us to become interested in a rebirth, to celebrate life. We are not living, if we are not giving. So, for those of us experiencing the shift, of being reborn each day, happy birth day! Every day we wake, is an opportunity to present our gifts.

Far beyond anything we can see with our eyes. Until infinity, as long as we believe. Take care of our minds, and our hearts, and exist forever. Keep a healthy self. Keep light. Keep love. Be light. Be love. Declutter and detach. Flow freely; be whimsical. Have a clear understanding on how to embrace and release all that comes and goes. Be still. Connect with the trees. Study nature. Become its reflection. Listen to the birds when they sing. Reject fear, judgement and discomfort. Welcome courage, and be courageous. Watch the changes right before our eyes. Don’t deny them. Pay attention to the evolution, within and around us. We are spirits. Let our spirits direct our steps. Trust in that, because it feels right. How much do we have to cover up? Layer up? Dumb down in make-up? Do not hide. Do not die. Do not subside. Awaken! Let’s get centered, balanced, lifted. Disconnect from “things” and get charged up! Find purity, and value that. Find innocence, and capitalize on that. Find radiance, and become drenched in that. Find the light, and never lose it again. Sing and fly as wild as birds. Grow strong and deeply rooted. The sky is beautiful. The ocean, so soothing. Let’s get back to nature, so much, that we become it.

Piece of Me

Happy 2017! Just a year ago, I started this blog and I thought it was going to mostly be about my children’s book, my paintings, and my travel adventures. Little did I know that I’d be inspired to dive deep, and focus my writing on self-reflection. As you can see, there are no limits here. Each post is a reminder of how I am growing, and my sincere interest in helping others reveal their truth. Let’s be real, and do whatever it is that truly makes us feel a sense of joy!

I don’t always know what to say. I don’t always use the perfect words to interpret how I’m feeling, and in those moments, I am really grateful for my outlet of painting. I actually find it to be better than verbal expression. If could never speak again, I’d be okay with that – because I have art. It speaks for me, sometimes better than I ever could. It is becoming a way of life. I need it. I crave it. I live for the opportunity to splash and blend colors onto a blank canvas, and share the result with others. I’m even more grateful to the people who see something special within each piece, and have one or more hanging within their humble abodes. That means a lot! Anyone who owns a DMC Original, truly has something that is one of a kind. Each painting is symbolic of how I was feeling in the moment. There are no intentions to create anything in particular, simply freedom of expression and creativity. The appreciation people have for that is invaluable. Anyone who owns a piece, has a piece of my heart.

This year, I’m going to continue on my journey to freely express myself, through art, writing, travel, and whatever else, because there are no limits. Stay tuned…

It was so peaceful atop the rock, which was perfectly positioned for one to take in such astonishing natural beauty. Wow, Jamaica – you’re gorgeous. There was such a strong sense of stillness as I sat there, taking a moment to be grateful for all I am, and all I have. I admit, again and again, “It’s the simple things that makes me happy.” It’s life’s purest and most innocent beauties that I admire so much. In those moments, I am reminded to show gratitude for good health. Not great or excellent health, because I believe we all suffer from some sense of mental, physical, spiritual and emotional imbalance. I’m grateful for loving and supportive family and friends, opportunities to travel, living dreams out loud as an author and artist, and working in an admirable field of education where everyone around me is helping to inspire and teach children (our future). I love this quote, “When you change the way you see things, the things you see will change.” I believe that to be true. It is all about perspective. So, when I think of the guardian angels that have been placed in my life over time as my very own spiritual guides, I am now viewing them from an angle of appreciation. Physical loss of near and dear loved ones may be the greatest form of pain that any human endures, but we get to a point where we are even grateful that their spirit carries on. As much as we miss sounds of their laughter, warm hugs, and kind words, it’s comforting to know that they are always in our hearts and guiding our steps. Over time, the light in which we see them shifts from darkness. It does not have to be sad forever…because we all know we’re going some day, and when that day comes we’ll become guardian angels ourselves. Losing their laughter, warm hugs and kind words, should only encourage us to laugh more, hug more and speak kindly to others, as often as we can. Our guardian angels feed our destiny. They are light. It is a struggle to always see them in this way, but it is the best way. So, I’m grateful for them, everyday, in every way. I try my best to keep an attitude of gratitude, because I’ve noticed that when I’m gracious and grateful, blessings that were never even imagined begins to surface, and my life experiences truly turn out to be just as beautiful as nature.

Excerpts from an open letter I wrote in 2015.

Love brings out all things possible. It brings fascination. With love, you learn compassion. You learn courage. You learn confidence. You learn strength. You learn peace. Most of all, you learn selflessness. Love is the one action that will allow you to find your passion. It will lead you to live well and to do good for others – to do good in the world. It will allow you to affect others in ways unbeknownst to you. As Maya Angelou puts it, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” Love does that. With love, you find compassion, inspiration, respect, truth, discipline, and so much more.

Passion is that little voice in your heart that says, “You can be and do whatever it is you FEEL.” Passion is so inspiring, because sometimes it may bring you to a point where you are knocking down barriers; it allows you to be different and to be accepted for your differences. Passion allows you to illuminate from within. Passion is your motivation! Once you’re passionate about something, you then have to find the confidence to own it. Once you find the confidence to own that passion, well then it’s time to gather the courage and put fear behind you – because life is about to take you on a ride!
I have a passion to help others and I have a passion to be creative. I am a writer, a photographer, a traveler, a painter, a volunteer, and a conscious human becoming. I am love. My passion for writing brought along the interest to write and publish my very first children’s book, Peers, Cheers, and Volunteers. It’s a story that highlights the value of volunteering and caring for others. I simply tied my two passions together! What are your passions?

I think our responsibilities, as humans becoming is to be conscious of life. What does it mean to be ALIVE? You are here, and that only means that you are powerful! You have the power to take yourself on a journey; the journey of your dreams. What does it mean to be a human becoming? It means that you can dream, and you can live that dream. You are at the point where you are daydreaming, fantasizing, and looking forward to all of the wonderful things you will do in YOUR life.

Let’s live lives doing the common good. When you are truthful with yourself and release the love you have within, you will have set yourself free. May your heart allow you to live a fulfilled life loving others throughout the world as best you can! And, when people ask you who you are – you’ll be able to give them an answer other than a job title.

Lastly, I want to share with you a dear friend of love; they share an invaluable relationship. Faith! Have faith, and you will find your way to anything you could ever want (and much more) – because the magic is, that it already exists! Read More
